Biography
David Jones is committed to assisting families and strengthening marriages. Growing up with divorced parents, including coping with a father battling with and recovering from alcoholism, cemented his interest in helping couples and families navigate difficulties. David’s own marriage serves as an anchor that further intensifies his commitment to marriage therapy. Together, he and Melodie have successfully blended a large family of 8 children, all while maintaining unique relationships with their parenting partners.
As much as his personal story is marked by resilience and growth, so too is his professional journey. His studies and practice have particularly emphasized the reparative influences on marriages. David is a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist and Supervisor Candidate and a Certified Family Life Educator. His expertise includes working with couples grappling with betrayal trauma, sexual addiction/compulsion, and infidelity, and in aiding couples wherein one or both partners struggle with ADHD.
Teaching university courses on family relationships and serving as an Army Reserve Chaplain broadens David’s perspective on real-world challenges faced by families. He is a leader in the field as an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor and an EFT Supervisor in Training, highlighting his commitment to advancing the therapy community at large.
David draws primarily from attachment theory, which tells us that people perform at their best within the comfort of secure relationships. Applying attachment theory to couples therapy tells us that we cannot only heal relationships, we can create relationships that heal. He believes that fostering genuine bonds with his clients helps them safely investigate their relationships and internal world, opening them up for new emotional experiences, healing, and change.
His clients are testaments to his abilities and enduring commitment. It is not uncommon for him to get feedback that his techniques “saved our marriage.” With a skillful blend of empathy, professional acumen, and life experiences, David Jones is more than a therapist; he is a beacon for families and couples seeking to heal, grow, and thrive.
