At Secure Connection Counseling, every therapist on our team is committed to providing compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based care. Our clinicians represent a variety of professional backgrounds and stages of licensure, allowing us to offer a wide range of specialties, appointment availability, and fee options.
Fully Licensed Therapists
Our fully licensed therapists have completed a master’s or doctoral degree in their profession, fulfilled the state’s required supervised clinical experience, successfully passed all required licensing examinations, and are independently licensed to practice in Utah.
Our licensed clinicians may hold credentials such as:
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC)
These clinicians are qualified to independently assess, diagnose, and treat a wide variety of mental health and relationship concerns. Many also pursue advanced training and certifications in specialized treatment approaches.
Associate Therapists
Associate therapists have completed their graduate education and have earned an associate license from the State of Utah. They are actively completing the supervised clinical hours required for independent licensure.
Our associate clinicians may hold credentials such as:
- Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)
- Certified Social Worker (CSW)
- Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACMHC)
Associate therapists are fully authorized to provide psychotherapy while receiving ongoing supervision from experienced licensed clinicians who are specially trained in supervision. This supervision includes regular consultation, case review, and continued professional development to ensure high-quality care. Clients often appreciate the combination of current clinical training, thoughtful supervision, and greater scheduling flexibility that associate therapists can offer.
Student Interns
Student interns are graduate students enrolled in accredited counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work programs who are completing the clinical training required for their degree.
Although they are still in graduate school, interns have already completed significant coursework in counseling theories, ethics, diagnosis, assessment, and treatment planning before beginning clinical work.
Interns provide therapy under close supervision from both their university training program and licensed supervisors at Secure Connection Counseling, who are specially trained in supervision. Their clinical work is reviewed regularly, allowing them to receive frequent feedback and guidance while providing thoughtful, evidence-based care.
Our Commitment to Quality
Every clinician at Secure Connection Counseling—whether fully licensed, an associate therapist, or a student intern—is carefully selected for their professionalism, integrity, and dedication to helping clients heal and grow.
We believe that excellent therapy depends on more than credentials alone. It is built on a trusting therapeutic relationship, ongoing learning, ethical practice, and a genuine commitment to each client’s well-being. Regardless of which clinician you choose, you can expect to receive compassionate, competent, and personalized care.
